The Martin House bed and breakfast is nestled in the foot hills of the Blue Ridge Mountains at 1085 Jacks Mt. Rd., Fairfield PA 17320. The home has been in the Martin family for the past 88 years, but was recently renovated to accommodate a bed and breakfast.  It's perfect for a romantic getaway, a destination vacation, a fun-filled weekend, or just a cozy stay in the Blue Ridge Mountains of south-central Pennsylvania

The Martin House was built around 1898, yet provides the desired accommodations of the 21st century with the charm of country living. The main part of the home is of log construction, with additions made over the years.  A portion of the log construction is visible in the den.  The mix of old and new is exemplified by our 19th century home using a geothermal heatpump for heating and cooling.

Located in a rural setting, but a close drive to many recreational and cultural amentities, you can do what your heart desires.  From hiking, golfing, swimming, shopping, visiting historic points of interest, attending summer theater,  to just reading and relaxing - there are endless possibilities!

Within a mile of our location is the site of the skirmish at Fountaindale.  On June 28, 1863, just days before the Battle of Gettysburg, a Confederate raiding party, trying to steal horses from a Lutheran church service, was confronted by Union cavalry and engaged in a skirmish at the foot of Jacks Mt., near the intersection of Jacks Mt. Rd. and Old Waynesboro Rd.  The old cemetery , which stood beside the former Lutheran Church, is still visible and marks the area where the fight took place.
