Places of Local History and
Points of Interest
While we don't want to down play the importance of our local history at Gettysburg, we would like to point out other attractions you may wish to visit in our local area. We have put together a 1 1/2 hour self guided driving tour which covers the area from Fairfield, Blue Ridge Summit,
Pen Mar, Pennersville, Monterey (including the Battle of Monterey Pass) and other small communities in our area. Be sure to ask for a copy of the guide if you stay at the Martin House B & B. The tour will take you on Lee's retreat route from Gettysburg, including the Battle of Monterey Pass; will show remains of the historic Tapeworm Railroad; an original Crown Stone from the surveying of the Mason-Dixon LIne; the beautiful mountaintop wetlands known as Happel's Meadow; historic buildings; and many other points of interest and history in our area.
Martin House B & B Gift Shop
For the convenience of our guests, passport visitors on the Gettysburg Wine and Fruit Trail, and others, we have a small gift shop located in our sun room. We have a nice selection of books (children's, local history, etc.), prints, scherenschnitte, note cards and other items, all done by our very talented local artists and authors. In addition you will find many fossils, minerals, crystals, polished stones and jewelry from Olzewski's Fossils and Crystals on sale. Stop in as a guest or as just a visitor to the Martin House B & B. If you are just visiting please call ahead to be sure we are open (717) 642-5645 or (717) 729-0188.
